SIDE TOURNAMENT - SPEED SCRABBLE CONTINUES AT 2006 Speed Scrabble Classic

Can you play a game of scrabble in less than 5 minutes?

From grassroots to mainstream, the first-ever (that we know of) Speed Scrabble tournament was held in Stamford CT at the 2002 Spring Classic. More than 20 players tried their skills at the ultimate word test...playing a game in less than 5 minutes.  Now, many classics later, Speed Scrabble has grown to be one of the most popular events at the Classic.

With so little time, the game allows the fast-thinking novices to play neck and neck with the experts where there is no time to show-off vocabulary and stellar strategic moves.  Losing 1 point per second over, It's against the clock to make make play after play to empty the bag.

Based on the popularity of years past, we will be dividing Speed Scrabble into multiple divisions.  Everyone had an even greater chance to win.  What a way to play Scrabble!

NEXT SPEED TOURNAMENT: Saturday June 10, CT Spring Classic, Stamford, CT
